Congratulations to Dr. BAO Hongsen on earning his PhD
AANTC congratulates Dr. BAO Hongsen on completing his doctoral degree requirements and earning his PhD. His dissertation is entitled “On the Gaussian beam tracing method for high-frequency sound wave propagation in inhomogeneous flows”.
His research addresses the accurate and efficient prediction of sound propagation in urban environments, where wind fields and building boundaries produce complex acoustic phenomena. He developed a Gaussian beam tracing (GBT) method for high-frequency sound propagation in inhomogeneous flows, balancing computational cost and numerical accuracy.
The formulation was validated against benchmark cases of varying complexity and integrated into a low-altitude aircraft noise mapping simulation platform.
We thank Dr. Bao for his contributions to the group and wish him every success in his postdoctoral research.
